SCCH at the conference for Electronic Imaging Science and Technology
Bernhard Moser, area manager for knowledge-based technology presents in San Diego a paper regarding "denoising techniques for raw 3D data of TOF cameras based on clustering and wavelets.
The team of the researches of the SCCH focused on the improvement of the quality of images of TOF (time of light) cameras. These cameras are able to measure the 3D structure of a number of objects in a comparably new technique. This approach uses modulated light waves and receives the signals by a parallel pixel array structure. Out of the traveling time each pixel one can estimate the depth structure of a distant object. The technique requires measuring the intensity differences and rations of several pictures with extremly high accuracy, therefore one faces in practice rather high noise levels. Regarding the scientific work, Mr. Moser speaks at the conference about denoising methods.
