SCCH expert at the ICST in Lillehammer!
Josef Pichler, who works in the business area Integrated Software Engineering Tools, presents at the ICST (International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation) two scientific papers regarding software testing.
1) A Script-Based Testbed for Mobile Software Frameworks
How could software developers test the software for mobiles, in an easy and uncomplicated way? Normally the developers have to test the functionality of the software elements without having a real infrastructure like a GSM transmitting station available. So the researchers have developed a special test-bed for software tests without real infrastructure. Of course that reduces the cost of development of software for mobile devices massively.
2) How to Test the Intangible Properties of Graphical User Interfaces
The focus of that scientific research is the testing of the user interface of software systems. Of note are the intangible aspects, like the usability. The tests of these aspects could not run automatically and the developer is normally the authority. So it was the aim to standardize and to automatize such tests. The solution was to enlarge the software platform Eclipse. That implementation helped to reduce the routine jobs which are normally fault-prone.
