Database Technology
Database Technology’s research targets infrastructure for data-intensive applications of modern enterprises. The potential for automation is still huge, both at the level of business processes and at the level of technical processes. With its two core competencies DBT is working on advanced concepts and technologies for the integration of enterprise information and processes.
SCCH’s Database Technology (DBT) Area represents the data- and information-oriented view of software within SCCH.
The overall topic of DBT is information system infrastructure. DBT’s research targets infrastructure for the data-intensive applications of modern enterprises. The potential for automation is still huge, both at the high level of business processes that deal with the administration of enterprise resource data and at the technical level of process automation.
Due to changing and new requirements, systems evolve over time. Research in information system infrastructure is about concepts and technologies that make data-intensive systems flexible and adaptive as well as easy to develop and maintain. DBT is working on advanced concepts and technologies for the integration of enterprise information and processes.
DBT has two core competencies:
- Enterprise Applications – Architectures, Technologies and Processes (EAP)
- Industrial Data Warehousing (IDW)
Enterprise Applications – Architectures, Technologies and Processes (EAP) focuses on the business processes of the enterprise. EAP deals with innovative system architectures and technologies that target improved governance and management of business processes.
The vision of
Industrial Data Warehousing (IDW) is twofold. On the one hand it concerns systematically bringing data warehouse techniques to the field of industrial manufacturing; this includes the vertical integration of technical processes and control data with business processes and enterprise resource data. On the other hand it involves systematically making high-end data warehousing techniques affordable. These aspects are interdependent.
