Job Profile

We are looking for a (Junior) Data Scientist (f/m) to join the Data Analysis Systems team of the Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH) to work on research-intensive machine learning and data analysis problems. But also experienced applicants are welcomed.

We offer the applicant to become a member of an international research team with focus on data management, data driven modeling, model predictive control, fault diagnosis, predictive analytics and process optimization. Typical examples of applications are industrial process analysis and optimization systems, e.g. for chemical industry, machine manufacture and maintenance or environmental technology. The group is cooperating with companies and research institutes in Austria and Europe.

Preferably, the candidate should have the following attributes:

  • a Master degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics or related field of study
  • profound education and if possible experience in machine learning, data mining, or statistics and related software tools like Matlab, Python, scikit-learn, R, or others
  • background or interest in the field of data management systems, big data and related technologies is preferable
  • practical experience with data analysis is considered as a special advantage
  • good skills in software development in modern high level language like Matlab, Phyton, R, or C++
  • ambitious in research and problem solving
  • good communication skills, motivated team player
  • good knowledge of English
  • good knowledge of German is preferable

For ambitious candidates with Master degree there also exists the possibility to pursue related PhD studies.

You should like to work within a familiar team atmosphere and be able to bring in your expertise and skills in industry as well scientific contexts. Your personal skills should include the ability to work independently as well as within a team, and the ability to co-operate with industrial partners.

Salary The minimum gross salary is € 2890 (minimum for seniors is € 3194), 14 times a year for full-time employment. The actual salary depends on the qualification of the applicant.
