| GeoPointer presents a concept which enables a smartphone to act as a tangible pointer, in order to receive information about an object in the real world. By pointing to an object, such as a peak or a building, the user automatically receives context information about the selected object. The aim is to introduce the intuitive approach of pointing to objects in combination with digital information repositories. Therefore a tangible pointing device, such as a smartphone is used to track a user`s pointing direction. Compared to the complex geometric transformations of the state-of-the-art visual augmented reality applications, the pointing approach offers the user an intuitive way to specifically select objects of interest within a real world outdoor scenario. |
