For our research focus Data Analysis Systems we are looking for a Scientific Head to lead an international team of about 20 researchers in the field of machine learning and data analysis. The research focus is managed jointly with an Executive Head.

We offer the opportunity to lead an international, well-established team of researchers working in the fields of data driven modeling, model predictive control, fault diagnostics, predictive analytics and process optimization. Typical areas of application are the analysis and optimization of industrial processes, in machine manufacturing and maintenance or in the energy sector. The team cooperates with renowned Austrian and European companies and research institutions. Research topics and research projects can be found on the website at https://www.scch.at/en/overview-das.

The main tasks in this position include:

  • scientific leadership of about 20 researchers together with the Executive Head and the key researchers
  • strategic, scientific alignment of the research focus Data Analysis Systems
  • scientific cooperation with the other main research foci at SCCH and the scientific partners (international/national universities and research institutions)
  • writing national and international research funding applications together with the team of key researchers
  • publication and dissemination activities in the form of lectures at international/national conferences and events
  • support of the Executive Head in customer acquisition by contributing scientific / technical expertise
  • project management of selected research projects
Requirements

You should have the following qualifications to successfully complete these main tasks:

  • PhD degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics or a related field of study.
  • profound education and sound experience in machine learning (preferably deep learning, transfer learning), data mining and statistics and in corresponding software tools such as Python (pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, ...), R, Matlab or similar
  • practical experience with data analysis
  • good skills in software development in modern high-level languages such as Matlab, Python, R or C++
  • leadership experience (in research environment)
  • high social skills (team leadership and motivation, team skills, good communication skills, ...)
  • very good knowledge of German and English

Salary The minimum gross salary is approx. € 5,900, 14 times a year for full-time employment. The actual salary depends on the qualification of the applicant.
