Job Profile

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist (f/m) to join the “Data Analysis Systems” team of the Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH) to work on research-intensive machine learning and data analysis problems.

We offer the applicant to become a member of an international, experienced research team with focus on data driven modeling, model predictive control, fault diagnosis, predictive analytics and process optimization. Typical examples of applications are industrial process analysis and optimization systems, machine manufacture and maintenance or in the energy sector. Preferably, the candidate should have the following attributes:

  • A PhD or MSc in computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics or related field of study
  • Experience in production, ideally in the field of maintenance
  • Profound education and research experience in machine learning, data mining, or statistics and related software tools like R, Python (scikit-learn, pandas, numpy, TensorFlow, …), Matlab, or others, preferably with focus on predictive maintenance
  • Practical experience with data analysis in the field of detection, diagnosis and prediction of faults (predictive maintenance), e.g. for production machines and plants
  • Good skills in software development in a modern high level language like Phyton, R, Matlab, C++ or Java
  • ambitious in research and problem solving
  • good communication skills, motivated team player
  • good knowledge of English
  • good knowledge of German is preferable

For ambitious junior researcher there also exists the possibility to pursue a related PhD studies.

You should like to work within a familiar team atmosphere and be able to bring in your expertise and skills in industry as well scientific contexts. Your personal skills should include the ability to work independently as well as within a team, and the ability to co-operate with industrial partners.

Salary The minimum gross salary is € 3,176 (MSc)/€ 3,592 (PhD), 14 times a year for full-time employment. The actual salary depends on the qualification of the applicant.
