Modern application architectures require flexible and ready-to-use distributed authorization mechanisms. We thus compare existing solutions for distributed authorization such as Sesame, Adage, JSEF, Kava to our newly developed framework GAMMA. We then evaluate the systems according to several criteria, including interoperability, compatibility, architecture requirements, expressiveness, and capabilities in regard to authentication, access control, and auditing.
