Dr. Bernhard Freudenthaler is executive head of the “Data Analysis Systems” group at the Software Competence Center Hagenberg. He studied business informatics at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) with focus on information engineering and management, business engineering and management, application oriented knowledge processing and economics. Afterwards, he wrote his doctoral thesis about case-based decision support for structural health monitoring and worked as research assistant at the institute for application oriented knowledge processing (FAW) at JKU.

His main research interests are case-based reasoning, decision support systems, situation awareness and assessment as well as predictive maintenance and he published more than 30 scientific publications. Besides research he is an experienced project manager and coordinator of various national as well as international research projects, e.g. he was member of the financial coordination team of the FP7 project IRIS at JKU (budget ca. 13 million €), coordinator of the EraSME project INDYCO (budget ca. 1.5 million €) or project leader of the fundamental research project VMI (budget ca. 3 million €).

Besides that he organizes the scientific workshop ISSASiM (International Workshop on Information Systems for Situation Awareness and Situation Management) at the DEXA conference since 2011 and is program committee member of several conferences and journals (DEXA, International Journal On Advances in Intelligent Systems, ICCGI, ISSASiM, IATEM).
