Dr. Bernhard Freudenthaler is Area Manager for Data Science at the Software Competence Center Hagenberg.
He studied business informatics at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) with focus on information engineering and management, business engineering and management, application oriented knowledge processing and economics. Afterwards, he wrote his doctoral thesis about case-based decision support for structural health monitoring and worked as research assistant at the institute for application oriented knowledge processing (FAW) at JKU.
His main research interests are case-based reasoning, decision support systems as well as predictive analytics / maintenance and he published more than 40 scientific publications.
He is an experienced project manager and coordinator of various national as well as international research projects, e.g. he was member of the financial coordination team of the FP7 project IRIS at JKU (budget ca. 13 Mio. €) and coordinator of the projects INDYCO (EraSME; budget ca. 1.5 Mio. €), VMI (EFRE; budget ca. 3 Mio. €), mpcEnergy (Upper Austrian Energy Research Programme; budget ca. 0.6 Mio. €), KI-Net (Interreg Austria-Bavaria; budget ca. 1.3 Mio. €), AutoDetect (Innovative Upper Austria 2020; budget ca. 0.5 Mio. €) or PRIMAL (FFG - ICT of the Future; budget ca. 0.9 Mio. €).
In addition, he organized the scientific workshop ISSASiM (International Workshop on Information Systems for Situation Awareness and Situation Management) at the DEXA conference between 2011 and 2015 and is/was program committee member of several conferences and journals (e.g. DEXA, International Journal On Advances in Intelligent Systems, ICCGI, ISSASiM, IATEM).
